Group Record for Child at Sheffield
Eilidh
Child at last captured sole posession of the u17 British
Age record for the 300m hurdles as she shaved 1/100th
of a second off the previous record which she jointly
held with Rachel Kay. The Scot has shown much promise
over the last two years and already has a 59.8 clocking
to her name in her debut 400m hurdles in a mixed race
earlier this summer.
In
defending the AAA u17 300m hurdles title at Sheffield,
Child was conmfortably ahead of ESAA Champion Ellen
Howath Brown, with the Bronze being taken in a new pb
of 43.60 by Sarah Adams infront of Scholls silvre medalist
Cara Pain.
There
was also a highly impressive performance in the youth
400m hurdles with Craig Crawford Glanville completeing
the AA u17/ESA double with a 53.25 victory a time that
lifts him to 6th on the all time UK lists being almost
half a second better than his English schools winning
time.Gateshead Harriers team mate Kieran Flannery also
improved his best to clock 53.57 for 10th on the all
time list as Edward Harrison again suffered disapointment
at Sheffield. The Schools International winner won his
heat with 54.22 but failed to finish the final, leaving
Enfield & Haringay's Ogadima Duru to take the bronze
with 55.19.
In
the youths sprint hurdles there was another double winner
with Liverpool's Craig France taking his second Sheffield
title. His 13.16 winning time was just outside his legal
best time of 13.10 but held off Charnwoods Midland Champion
Dan Davies who also pr'd with 13.23. There were also
new bests for the 3rd and 4th place finishers though
Dan Maynard 13.20 and Rickey Alexis Smith 13.27 achieved
these performances in qualifying.
There
was a hurdle double for Carmathan Harriers with Heather
Jones winning the Intermediate 100H and Daniel Evans
taking the boys 80m hurdles title. Jones, 11.30, repeated
her schools international victory over Kylie Robbilliard,
who finished just 1/100th infront of Clare Cooper who
took a quater of a second off her previous best despite
running into a 1.3 headwind in the final.
Evans'
victory was a much closer thing, sharing the winning
time of 11.50 with Bradley Humphries of West Somerset
College, with Gary Lam only 2/100ths further back. Schools
bronze medalist Alex al Ameen finished fourth.
A
second title went north of the border to Scotland as
well with Natalie Doyle of the Glsagow School of Sport
clocking 11.20 just 1/100th slower than her winning
time inthe Schools Internationa in Belfast two weeks
previously. She was followed by the Ferrybank AC pairing
of Kayln Sheehan and Mairead Murphy with Havering's
Lisa Schofield in 4th
