Dan
Davies confirmed his favourites tag in retaining his
u17 AAA 60m hurdles title at Birmingham's NIA, but
had to share the title after a deadheat with Charnwood's
Daniel Maynard, as the pair shared the 8.09 winning
time.
Davies
had run 7.97 in the heats edging Oliver McNellis who
again clocked the same time, both going equal second
on the age group all time list, but with McNellis
not finishing in the final, the bronze went to Charlie
Kavanagh in 8.21.
Another
hurdler to retain their title was Stoke's Nick Gayle,
whose decision to miss the British Universities Indoor
Championships, paid dividends as the Graham Knight
coached athelete took over a tenth of a second off
his pb to record 8.14. Rob Henry repeated his silver
medal from twelve months ago, whilst Jordan Fleary
took the bronze.
With
a number of the leading contestants absent through
injury or Multi Event International duty, Charnelle
Garnett took the u20 women's title in 8.68 ahead of
Pembrook's Claire Jones 8.76, whilst EASS Inter Girls
100H Champion Kylie Robilliard went one better than
last year's silver medal to take the title in the
u17 event. The Channel Island athlete ran her quickest
time in qualifying 8.61 and then narrowly held off
Scotland's improving Natalie Doyle 8.67 to 8.69.Victoria
Garrad 8.80 took bronze as Chloe van Wulvan -third
ranked on the lists this year - was unable to match
her 8.77 qualification mark, eventually finishing
5th behind Clare Cooper in a close fought battle for
third place.
Chelmsford's
Matt Tong took the u15 boys title with 8.76 infront
of Ireland's Steven Walsh 8.83, with Scotland's Andrew
Smith completing a multi national podium with bronze
8.87. Ashley Helsby [Liverpool Harriers] won a North
Western duel with Trafford's Jennifer Taker 9.06 to
9.11, to take the u15 girls title, with Ireland picking
up another medal in Kylan Sheehan's 9.14 bronze, just
infront of Serita Soloman 9.17.
