Group 2003 Indoor Championship Report

Belle continued her collection of AAA medals when she
took the u20's AAA 60m hurdles title with an excellent
8.47 for equal eleventh on the UK all time u20 60m hurdle
list. . Having clocked a 8.58 pb in the heats, Belle
triumphed in the final with 8.47 a full tenth in front
of Sale Harrier, Gemma Fergusson, whose 8.57 was also
a pb. Northern Ireland's Catherine Crawford took the
bronze.
There were also impressive performances in the men's
u17 championship, with Richard Alexis Smith's victory
in 8.12 also moving him to eleventh on the all time
lists, but only fractionally ahead of last years top
u15 hurdler Dan Davies who was close behind in 8.16.
Southern Champion Joe Tenny was third in front of Halesowen's
Oliver McNellis.
The top two in the u15 girls 60 hurdles were locked
together, both Helen Asher and Natalie Doyle running
9.07 for equal 6th national all time. However Asher
from Wirral AC just got the verdict and the Gold medal,
with Nafalya Francis continuing Leicester Coritanian's
fine tradition in age group hurdling for the Bronze
in 9.20.
The boys under 15 race was much more clear cut with
Kieran Edward taking the title by almost half a second
as he went under nine seconds to win in 8.95.
Carmarthen's Heather Jones continued her fine unbeaten
season adding the u17 National title to her Welsh title
and recording a new best of 8.69 in the heats before
winning in 8.74 in front of last years u15 English Schools
Champion Kylie Robilliard, who just out leaned Harriet
Robinson [Blackheath] to take silver, both clocking
8.81.
In the u20 Men's 60H Nick Gayle's 8.35 took the title
from Kingston upon Hull's Robert Henry 8.47 and Middlesborough's
Suote Nyananyo 8.55
