Great Indoor Start for Silah Freckleton

Mohammed Silah Freckleton showed great early season form as he clocked 7.88 and then 7.82 in the final at the inaugural indoor meeting at Loughborough. The Blackheath & Bromley Harrier who is a member of the impressive Lloyd Cowan led hurdle squad won comfortably from Tristan Anthony [8.05] and Duncan Malins [8.06] and is now within 7/100th of the World Indoor Championship qualifying standard.

There were aslo good new personal bests for Colin Roberts [8.05] and Paul Tohill [8.10] in the qualification round, as there was for Luton's Paul Crossley in the A final [8.18]. North Shields Peter Middleton also set new best firgures of 8.24 in taking the B final.


Rachel King was an equally comfortable winner of the women's race, clocking 8.26, only 6/100ths slower than her best time of 2003. Behind the Welshwoman, Jeni Molloy set her second pb of the day running 8.45 after a 8.54 breakthrough in the heats.

There was also a noteworthy performances from 17 year old Nicola Robinson whose 8.72 equalled her pb in finishing third, whilst heptathlete Fiona Harrison aslo ran well in the heats, her 8.62 time giving the Trafford athlete a big improvement on her previous personasl best.
