World 400H Record
There will not be many
attempts on it in this or any other year but Finn Janne
Makela who had a big breakthrough in 2002 running 49.59
christened the new indoor 400m track at Mustasaari
, Finland with a new world best for 400m Hurdles indoor
with 50.83.
The Finnish champion defeated his countrymen Aki Pekka
Lattu and Jussi Heikkila last years fastest European
Junior, in the new facility that looks as if will prove
very useful for the winter development of Finlands's
one lap hurdlers.
Further indoor records at outdoor distances followed
three days later at Tempere, where Colin Jackson set
a UK National 110H Indoor record of 13.40 defeating
Sweden's Robert Kroenberg and Brasil's Marcio de Souza
whose respective 13.50 and 13.72 were also indoor 110H
national bests.
