Strong Youth Performances in UKHC Birmingham Races

The first age group promotion of 2003 saw some fine hurdling performances especially amongst the Youth hurdlers as Birmingham University's Ivy League Challenge hosted UKHC hurdles races at senior and u17 level.

Midland 100m hurdles champion Dan Maynard continued his fine form clocking 13.48 to comfortably take the youths sprint hurdles race, though in second place John Newall was rewarded with an ESAA qualifying performance.

Fourth in the youths sprint hurdles was Rob Bains, who had earlier in the evening taken over a second off his personal best in the 400H clocking a strong 56.33 to move into the top ten on the national year list The women's u17 sprint hurdles was won by Kim Wyman 11.97 infront of Jodi Morton.

The best performance of the senior competition undoubtedly belonged to Blackheath's Peter Kokemoer who clocked 50.86 to win comfortably from Denmark's Olau Thomassen 53.49 with Ben Caldwell clocking a PB in third with 53.52.

Rob Henry's long trip down from Humberside was rewarded with a 14.95 victory in the Men's sprint hurdles whilst Nuneaton's Nicola Robinson again showed her potential at the 100H with a close 14.39 victory over Ruth Dales 14.41. Sian Davies' 64.90 400H victory over Natalie Hooper reversed the previous weekend's result in their district schools confrontation.
