The first session of the annual Northwood Hurdles
academy took place at Stoke on Sunday 15th November
when 44 athletes worked with 14 coaches. As most of
the athletes were in the early winter training phase
the emphasis was on hurdle rhythm and exercises for
technique and flexibility. For some hurdlers it was
the introduction to the new specifications as they
move up to a different age group. The long hurdlers
concentrated on the lead leg action, both dominant
and non-dominant. Coaches attending are now able to
obtain credits from their active participation in
two or more of the five scheduled sessions.
Please note
that owing to a clash with the NIA Games, the February
session has been switched from Sunday 15th February
to Sunday 22nd February 2004.
