Area Record for Foster

Brigitte Foster who last year denied Gail Devers a share of the Golden League Jackpot, headed a superaltive 100H field at the Steve Prefontein Classic at Eugene, Oregon as she clocked a Jamaican and Central American Record of 12.44 as the year list was totally re-written in one race.

Behind Foster, Americans Misha McKelvy [12.51] and Donica Merriman [12.65] set pb's in second and third respectively, as the field took advantage of excellent conditions. The top seven in the race recorded the seven fastest times of 2003 with two other americans Jenny Adams and Mellissa Morrison and two other Jamaicans Lacena Dixon and Vonette Dixon all ran between 12.68 and 12.84. Had not Devers faded back to 13.06 the complete field would have clocked sub 12.90.

For Foster who missed out on the Commenwealth Games when favourite for the gold, the wining time was a best by 5/100ths from her previous Jamaican record set coming second in Stockholm last year and leaves her just outside the world all time top ten.
