Indoor Round Up
There
were some promising indoor performances across the
Territories and Scottish Regions as the 2004 Indoor
Campaign started in earnest. Dan Davies stood out
with an excellent 7.99 victory in the Southern Youth's
60m Hurdles at Bedford, to move to second on the British
all time list. The Sutton athlete now lies only 0.07
behind Brett St Louis' British record.
At
senior level, Alan Scott went to the top of the year
rankings with an impressive 7.81 second victory in
the Scottish West District Championships at Kelvin
Hall, defeating training partner Chris Baillie who
was also below 8 seconds with 7.94. Scott's time was
just 3/100ths outside his best set last year.
ESAA
champion Kylie Robilliard added to her collection
of titles with a 8.58 pb victory in the Interladies
60H at Bedford pushing the improving Chloe van Wulvan
8.73 back into second place. Also at Bedford, Decathlete
John Heaney impressed with a 8.24 victory in the senior
mens.
There
were some good u20 performances at the newly opened
indoor centre at Sheffield. Multi talented Jessica
Ennis took gold in 8.81, from Katy Read [8.93] . In
the Junior men's Jordan Fleary won a strong competition,
his 8.07 outpacing Kevin Sempers' 8.24 and last year's
top u17 Craig France who recorded 8.29.
