All IAAF performances must be achieved during the period 1 January 2002 to 23 February 2004

Selection Criteria
1. The Team final selection will take place on Monday 23rd February.

2. The first athlete eligible to compete for Great Britain & Northern Ireland in each trial event [except combined events] will be awarded a place in the team, providing the relevant IAAF entry standard has been achieved during the specified period. Automatic selections will be confirmed on Monday 9th February. If the eligible athlete at the trials has not achieved the entry standards, he or she will have no right to automatic selection.

3. Selectors have the right to make further selections from athletes who have achieved the IAAF entry standard
N.B. Two athletes can be chosen in an event if both have achieved the IAAF standard

4. An achievement of IAAF entry standard does not guarantee selection.

5. Current form will the most important selection criteria.

6. Combined events - The IAAF will invite eight athletes to compete.

7. The selection panel reserves the right to make value judgements on the situations that they consider to be exceptional circumstances within the reference framework and spirit of the general policy.
